Scarlett’s First Month At Social Progress!

I can’t believe it’s been one whole month since I joined Social Progress as their Social Media Account Manager, and what a whirlwind it’s been. Since day one, I’ve been getting to grips with the role, the company culture, and of course, our brilliant clients.

Coming into the role after my studies, I won’t lie it was nerve racking; However, Janet and Alex have been nothing but patient and willing to teach me the world of Social Media.

I’m loving this job so far, and not just because I got free cake.

What I’ve Learnt so far:

Each client has its own tone, voice, audience, and goals. In the first couple of weeks, I dedicated a lot of time to research each client to understand not only what their company does but to understand their strategy and how we can further help them to maximise their potential. What works for one brand, might not work for the next.

Following on from that, the hard bit is balancing creativity with consistency. We must ensure each post reflects the brand’s voice and visual style, whilst still being fresh and engaging.

My Best Bits:

I believe my background in Fashion Marketing, my eye for detail from retail, and my passion for digital storytelling are helping me create valuable work.

A big part of this job involves creating graphics on Canva, which is music to my ears! I used Canva throughout my degree, so I quickly got to grips with it (even if Alex keeps trying to teach me keyboard shortcuts that I won’t remember). More recently, I’ve started experimenting with editing reels. I still have a lot to learn there, but I’m really enjoying the process.

Surprisingly, one of my favourite parts of this job is the blogs. It allows me to show my creative side in the graphics, but also my personality in the text. I never run out of things to talk about, it just feels like I’m in a conversation with my friends.

Challenges and what’s next:

There have been challenges too, like juggling multiple deadlines and adapting quickly when things change, but I see it as a chance to learn.

As I get to know my wonderful clients, I’m also focusing on mastering my skills and becoming faster at creating reels. With practice, I’m hoping it will soon feel second nature, almost like I could create a post in my sleep.

A month in, and I already feel I’ve grown so much but I know I’ve still got so much more growing to do. I’m grateful to be here, part of the team, working with talented and experienced people.

Now, let’s get cracking with the next creative project and making the most of the fun in the office along the way!
