We Mean Business With The Facebook #SheMeansBusiness Programme

On Friday 1^st March 2019, Janet and Esther travelled down to Facebook, London for a “Train the Trainer” Event as part of the “Facebook #SheMeansBusiness Programme”.

Although Janet had been to the Facebook Partner Centre in London before, Esther experienced the social media giant’s London HQ for the first time.

“It’s like the Willy Wonka Factory of Facebook! There’s so much to see and interact with. They’re very keen to promote engagement within the Centre – eg. selfie stations and props for photos – and also showcase the stats about how many Facebook and Instagram users there are.” – Esther Orridge, Social Progress Ltd

  

You may have watched the Facebook Live video that Janet was able to film before they left which features (what we’ve nicknamed) the “Atlas Pod”. This is an interactive globe of screens that allows the user to select different countries and view the stats of how many Facebook users there are in that particular country.

Janet had also told the team about the interactive Emoji Wall before and, again, this was something Esther was able to play with when they were there. What emojis would you choose to “flick” onto the wall?

It wasn’t all fun and games though – there was a purpose of meeting at Facebook. 24 Facebook #SheMeansBusiness Trainer travelled from across the UK for the Event where they were all trained by Facebook and given the low-down about up-and-coming features across their family of apps.

At the end of the day, Janet and Esther, along with the other Trainers, received their “Official Facebook #SheMeansBusiness Trainer” badges and toolkit for delivering training on behalf of Facebook’s Programme.

What IS the Facebook #SheMeansBusiness Programme?

It’s an initiative set up by Facebook and partnered with Enterprise Nation, with the target to train 50,000 female entrepreneurs across the UK in 2019. The Programme consists of 24 hand-picked digital marketing specialists from across the UK who have been trained especially by Facebook to deliver Training Events and Meet Ups on their behalf to achieve their ambitious target.

“The aim of the Facebook #SheMeansBusiness Programme is to encourage entrepreneurial women (and men) to use and embrace Facebook and Instagram’s range of marketing collateral in order to grow their business. Back in 2016, our Janet was the only Northerner approached by Enterprise Nation as a recognised specialist in the field of social media training and account management. She was invited to be part of the Programme and was flown over to Facebook HQ, Dublin in 2017. Along with 7 other digital marketing specialists from the UK, the group were given a tour of the impressive headquarters of the social media giant and taken through the training required to become an official “Facebook #SheMeansBusiness Accredited Trainer”. Janet has attended the annual catch ups with Facebook and Enterprise Nation since then.

This year, Esther also attended the “Train the Trainer Event” to become a Facebook #SheMeansBusiness Accredited Trainer. So, Social Progress has not just one, but TWO official Facebook #SheMeansBusiness Accredited Trainers in their team! AND Janet and Esther are the only ones in the whole of Yorkshire! Pretty cool, ey?

“So why is that relevant to me?” you may be asking…

Well, Social Progress will be delivering a variety of taster training or meet-up events in and around the Huddersfield area across 2019, directed at especially for female entrepreneurs to book onto, to learn about Facebook and Instagram.
