Wednesday 16th March brought the Kirklees Business Conference to John Smith’s Stadium in Huddersfield. The event was well organised by Rachel Dickie and Rebecca Walker from the Mid Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce and Richard Norman of Brand Yorkshire.
We were just 1 of the 45+ businesses exhibiting at the Kirklees Business Conference, with 9 speakers holding seminars across the day and over 400 delegates attending. The Social Progress team were on Stand 41, right in front of the door! So we had a constant flow of visitors coming to check out our yellow typewriter and taking photos of the “Social Media Explained with Cake” plaque!
As part of our exhibition stand we ‘high-jacked’ one of the TVs in the room to manage a live Twitter Wall. This meant that any tweets including the official event hashtag #MYCK16 popped up on the display. So, I (Esther) took on the challenge to absolutely cover the hashtag with updates from the event & showcase our fellow exhibitors! I think I succeeded?? (huzzah!)
After being glued to my iPhone and Twitter for most of the day I managed to get a variety of photos of the Conference and room to encourage delegates to visit the stands and have a chat with the exhibitors about their specific services.
Janet was asked to be part of the Discussion Panel for an hour during the day where they covered topical issues that affected the local business landscape.
Overall we thought it was a successful day for many including ourselves. We got to meet so many new people and catch up with familiar faces as well. A great buzz across the room! Well done to the team for putting on another great business event.
Were you there? We hope you enjoyed it as much as we did! We’re already looking forward to the next one… #MYCK17
