Time is ticking by and we’re getting closer to the big Holme Valley Fairtrade Web Launch on Friday 27th February! We’re really excited about it as it’s a really big deal for the group!
Holme Valley Fairtrade Group – local businesses working together to promote Fairtrade within the Holme Valley
Holme Valley Fair Trade (HVFT) are a group of local businesses within the Holme Valley (not just Holmfirth) who share a passion for supporting Fairtrade. Their moto is “shop local, think global” which is fairly self-explanatory. Holmfirth itself is a great example of a community consisting of smaller, local businesses supporting and looking out for one-another. Now HVFT are reaching out to the whole valley to raise awareness about Fairtrade and how businesses can get involved!
The next Holme Valley Fairtrade event will be on Friday 27th February during Fairtrade Fortnight. Everyone is welcome to attend and (finally) celebrate the official launch of their shiny new website! It’s been in the pipe-line for a while and has been under construction for what seems like forever (this is probably because we were one of the first companies to know about it from the early stages)… We’re really excited about the web launch and we’d like to encourage you to join us for it at Soul Kitchen (Holmfirth) from 11am – 2pm. Tickets are free but you are encouraged to register your attendance for catering purposes. Click here to book your free place! We have!
This will all be happening during Fairtrade Fortnight – 2 weeks jam-packed full of events and celebrations to raise awareness of Fairtrade! There will be loads for you, your family, your friends, your business (and anyone else you want) to get involved with from Monday 23rd February through until Sunday 8th March 2015 – including the HVFT web launch right in the middle! (Get it in your diary!)
Here at Social Progress we show our support of Fairtrade by providing Fairtrade tea, coffee and sugar (whenever possible) at all our meetings and events. We regularly attend the Holme Valley Fairtrade meetings and we’ve even hosted a meeting here at Bridge House! “We believe that everyone should get a fair price for the work they do right throughout the process. We also believe that even just doing a little can help and better to start with something like tea, coffee & sugar than do nothing. We can & will build on this to source other fairly traded & Fairtrade goods to use at Bridge House as we develop & grow.” – Janet Bebb (Social Progress Ltd)
We have a business networking event here at Bridge House on Friday 6th March 2015 during Fairtrade Fortnight called #RETROFRIDAY. It’s also a free event – hosted by Social Progress and Creative Analysis – for local businessmen and women to come say hello and meet new people, have a go on the Yellow Typewriter and stick your favourite record on the Orange Record Player (old-school yeah!). Like at all our other events we’ll be providing free Fairtrade tea and coffee to our visitors. If you’re interested feel free to click here and book your free place (we’re already half booked up!) We’d love to see you there!
If you are interested in getting more involved and actively supporting Fairtrade and getting involved with the Holme Valley Fairtrade group, connect with them on Facebook / Twitter and come join us on the big launch day! ——- Are you on social media? Do get connected and say hello to us on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Google Plus. We’d love to hear from you!
