You may have seen the news; someone new has joined the Social Progress Team! We’d like to introduce Hannah Brook. As is tradition, we’ve asked her to write a blog about herself as she starts her new chapter as a Social Media Account Manager. This is what she has to say:
Hi, I’m Hannah and if you’re following us on socials (which you definitely should) you may have already seen that I’m Social Progress’ newest Social Media Account Manager.
Thinking back to where my interest in all things communications and marketing was sparked, I distinctly remember having the dreaded teenage careers chat with my Mum and understandably, not knowing where to begin. After throwing out wild job titles including midwife, physio and chiropodist (strange considering that I look away at anything remotely squeamish on TV), it soon clicked that I could combine my love of writing and business by diving into the field of marketing.
Moving to York to study Marketing at university was the next step and social media soon became a passion once I began my student placement at Barnsley Council, where I was able to put the knowledge I had learnt at university into practice. I particularly enjoyed creating email newsletters to keep staff members in the know and this ended up being my main focus during the pandemic.
After graduating, I took on a graduate position at Leeds City Council where I helped to plan and deliver the marketing for city centre events including the popular German Christmas market and provided digital media support to some wonderful parks and countryside sites. I worked within the public sector for two and a half years before joining #TeamSoPro so I’m now looking forward to working alongside businesses to really drive their social media channels.
When I’m not at work, I enjoy going to concerts and exploring new cities, but I’m the happiest when I’m somewhere sunny abroad or simply snuggled up with my four-legged bestie Lola.
We’re excited to have SoPro Hannah on board and look forward to introducing her to you over the next few weeks and months. Please do help us make her feel welcome and say “hello”.
