Facebook ‘She Means Business’ Training – Up North!

Aug 9, 2019

In March 2019 Janet Bebb and Esther Orridge of Social Progress attended the Facebook She Means Business “Train the Trainer” Event at Facebook HQ in London. Less than 30 digital marketing specialists from across the UK, who are part of the Programme, attended to hear the latest news and updates from the Facebook Team.

Since March, both Janet and Esther have delivered Facebook #SheMeansBusiness Training with the help of co-organisers. Did you attend any of them?

Our first She Means Business Event of 2019 was in June and hosted by the lovely Merewyn Sayers of HD8 Network. The part networking, part training event welcomed approx 30 businesswomen from around Kirklees and Calderdale to learn the basics of Instagram for Business.

Esther delivered the “Instagram 101 for Business” presentation, provided by Facebook, in the main hall at Storthes Hall Park. The majority of the attendees on the training had an existing Instagram account and were familiar with posting content on there. The most noted tips and tricks were relating to creating simple videos as well as the benefit of creating Instagram Stories.

There was an opportunity at the end of the presentation for people to ask Esther about Instagram. The most popular questions were:

  1. How do I know if my Instagram account is a Business Account?
  2. How do I create an Instagram Story?

Facilitating time after the presentation for people to come and ask questions was invaluable. It gave attendees the opportunity to ask what they really wanted to know and I was then able to explain the answers using their own phone, making the training personal to them. It was encouraging to know that these delegates left the workshop feeling equipped and confident enough to try something new with Instagram. – Esther Orridge, Social Progress Ltd

Janet delivered a Facebook She Means Business Meet-up at The Media Centre in Huddersfield. The format was more informal, which allowed delegates to ask Janet questions about their own social media. The Meet-up allowed for specific challenges to be discussed and inspire the delegates to go away confident in their learning.

With a more relaxed and informal format for the Meet-up it meant that attendees could freely ask about the topics they wanted to cover about Facebook and Instagram. The hot topic of this session was mainly about how to target the right audience and get your brand seen online.  The format challenged attendees to think strategically about using social media and encouraged them to be more pro-active – Janet Bebb, Social Progress Ltd

Janet also delivered a She Means Business presentation on Facebook and Instagram Advertising at the Enterprise Nation Fashion Exchange in Manchester in June. The delegates were there for a full day of inspiring talks designed to inspire fashion retail businesses. They heard from Zara Khalique, founder of KEEP IT BRIGHT who has created a brand and clothing which is worn by Miley Cyrus and Ariana Grande. Three of the delegates even got to pitch directly to N Brown, the company behind Simply Be, Jacamo and JD Williams.

Enterprise Nation have also been organising Facebook LIVE sessions with the Facebook She Means Business Trainers to deliver 30 minute training sessions, via Facebook LIVE, with the idea that people can watch them over their lunch hour. Esther delivered one back in July called “Busting Myths About Facebook Advertising” which you can watch again here: Enterprise Nation Facebook Page.

Thank you to HD8 Network and The Media Centre for hosting the two events in Huddersfield. And thank you to Enterprise Nation for asking us to be part of their Facebook LIVE sessions as well.
