1 Year of SoPro Jo!

Jun 15, 2022

Wow… can you believe it’s been an ENTIRE YEAR since I joined team SoPro?! It feels like forever ago that I was up at the crack of dawn (ie. 9am) in my Grandad’s spare room for a first Zoom interview with Janet and Sophie for a role here at Social Progress – yet at the same time, this year has flown by!

It has been a hectic, emotional and brilliant year and it’s great to look back on how much I’ve learnt and achieved in this time.

As part of the Social Progress team, I’ve had the opportunity to work with some brilliant people and organisations, be part of some very exciting projects, and get involved with various networking, conferences and events. I’ll have to admit, self-confidence isn’t exactly my strong point, and a year ago today I’d essentially go into panic-mode at the thought of answering the phone. Being back in an office environment, and being surrounded by a friendly and supportive team, has allowed me to develop my skills and especially my confidence. I’ve gone from dreading answering the phone, to being on it practically all day sometimes, representing the company at conferences, leading strategy meetings, and even delivering training!

One of the great things about working at Social Progress, is that every day is different. Working with a variety of clients across essentially all business sectors (honestly, name one, we’re more than likely working with someone there!), means that we’re involved in widely different projects and can go from talking about construction, to beauty, to business support in a matter of minutes! But as well as keeping things fresh and exciting work-wise, this also means that we’re basically an extension of lots of other work teams too. I’ve had the pleasure of working with some lovely and amazing people this past year, and it’s great to feel like I’m really part of their team and can have a laugh whilst helping them to promote and grow their businesses with social media.

Another thing I love about Social Progress, is that we are a completely open and honest team and are all involved in all aspects of the business and any decisions made. It’s a really great structure to be a part of, as we all feel included and that our views are important. I really enjoy being involved in the Business Development of Social Progress and being increasingly involved in putting proposals together and onboarding new clients.

I’m excited to see how Social Progress continues to grow and develop over the next year (we have plenty of exciting things coming!), and look forward to developing my own skills and experience along with it.

Finally… I can’t write a blog about my time at Social Progress without mentioning the fabulous team I work with! The past year has been full of laughs and silly social media stunts, and every busy or stressful day is made better knowing we have each other’s backs, and are here to support each other. I’m so happy to be a part of the kind, supportive, occasionally irritating but utterly hilarious, Team SoPro.

Thank you, Joanna, for being such an amazing addition to our team and for all your hard work so far. Please do join us in congratulating Joanna on her first year at Social Progress via our social media!
