We were delighted to open our arms and welcome SoPro Emily to the team at the end of 2023. She’s hit the ground running, and it’s like she’s always been here!
We wanted to find out what she thought of her first month here at Social Progress, so she’s written a blog to tell us all about it! Have a read of what she thinks here:
My first month at Social Progress has flown by, but at the same time, it feels like I have been here forever!
I remember being very nervous to take the leap from doing what I knew to doing something so different. I started in December so I had no choice but to get stuck in from the get go as it was such a busy time of year. With the encouragement and support of the team, I feel as though I have learnt masses of things in such a small amount of time.
Looking back to my first week and everything that has happened since then, it has made me aware of the progress that I have made and allowed me to remember all of the little bits of knowledge and skills I’ve picked up, that I didn’t notice at the time.
I have particularly enjoyed spending time making Reels for clients, and learning how to add branding to the videos – the creativity and flair I can add to these is really pleasing! I’ve also looked in-depth at Canva and know all the secret tips and tricks to creating fully branded graphics that are engaging to a variety of audiences!
Previously I had struggled with creating captions for my posts – I think I’m not the only one who struggles knowing what to say to engage our target audience – but now I’ve got to grips with each of the businesses in my client portfolio I feel like I’ve gotten to grips with their voices and what their customers want to hear. I even enjoy writing copy for social media posts now, and get a real pleasure from seeing people engage with the content I create.
It’s taken me a little longer to get to grips with using Meta Business Suite! Here at Social Progress the team uses the platform for all clients, using it to share content, look at data and analytics, respond to comments and messages, and so much more! I didn’t realise quite how much a business could use Meta Business Suite for, but now I’m fully trained on the platform I can see how much easier it can make managing Facebook and Instagram accounts (though I’m sure there will always be more to learn!)
It’s amazing to work alongside such diverse businesses and to play a part in their growth. Variety is a huge positive of my role as a Social Media Account Manager. I love being a part of each stage of the process. From generating ideas and planning content to photography and graphic design. I’m constantly discovering new things about all things social media, and each week that goes by, I can say that I have learnt even more than the previous.
So far, I’ve attended networking events and had meetings with the majority of my clients. Next week I will be attending a live event at Alton Towers to provide live social media coverage across platforms, which I am sure will be a major highlight for me.
I can’t wait to learn even more about social media, and look forward to the variety that each day in this role provides.
